GRAND ISLAND – A training session for Nebraska State Fair volunteers will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center.
At the session, volunteers will receive their volunteer T-shirt, name badge, and schedule for the State Fair. There also will be a short presentation covering information for volunteers, said Haley Roush, Volunteer Coordinator for the Nebraska State Fair.
Anyone interested in volunteering for the Nebraska State Fair can go to the website statefairvolunteer.org or call 308-385-3955. People should sign up for volunteering prior to the Aug. 8 training.
“We are very excited for the 2024 Nebraska State Fair,” said Jaime Parr, Executive Director of the Nebraska State Fair.
At the Aug. 6 training session, Roush told volunteers about new features at the 2024 Nebraska State Fair. There will be a jumping pillow for children.
A community decorating contest is offered where people decorate pallets with a Nebraska State Fair theme. For the pallet decorating contest, five pallets have been provided to 30 selected contestants. Judging of the pallets will be Aug. 12 and Aug. 13, and winners will be announced on Aug. 16.
A fireworks/drone show will be offered six nights of the Nebraska State Fair.
Roush said approximately 250 people attended the Aug. 6 training session.
“We have lots of opportunities available. There’s something for everybody,” Roush said.
Approximately 700 people volunteer for the Nebraska State Fair each year.
“I would encourage people to try volunteering,” Roush said.
