ODESSA — A center-pivot irrigation system rolled onto the Union Pacific tracks west of Odessa and was struck by an oncoming train on Friday, June 21.
According to Union Pacific, at 12 p.m., a farmer reported that his center-pivot had rolled onto the tracks a half-mile west of Odessa, just slightly east of the intersection of Amherst Road and Highway 30.
An oncoming train struck the irrigation system and came to a halt, with the front of the pivot stuck in the air in front of the train.
The train crew was not injured as a result of the collision and Union Pacific is assessing the damage.
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.
