LINCOLN – The 2023 Nebraska High School State Volleyball Championships began Wednesday with plenty of exciting matches, epic upsets, and plenty of area action taking center stage at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In Class C1, top seeds Kearney Catholic and Minden swept Syracuse and GICC respectively to advance to the semifinals on Friday. The Stars will face Pierce, while Minden battles Gothenburg who won in a thrilling five sets over Platteview.
Class A had exciting action as well, with nationally-ranked and top seed Papillion-LaVista South falling to cross-town rival Papillion-LaVista in four sets. Grand Island fell in a battle of four sets to #4 Omaha Westside late Wednesday night.
Today’s action includes: #1 Cambridge taking on Shelton while Overton battles Central Valley at 9 AM in Class D2, while in Class D1 Burwell takes on top seed GACC at 1 PM, SEM faces St. Mary’s and BDS takes on Amherst at 3 PM.
