Today is National Eat What You Want Day: If calories didn’t count and no food was off-limits, what would your perfect day of eating look like? For me it would be an easy decision: Pizza and Heineken followed by a crazy large amount of fried food including clams and onion rings. OK, I’m back from fantasy-land…due to dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free) I abstain and now I will share an article I saw online listing ways in which to navigate National Eat What You Want Day if you CAN’T eat-what-you-want because you’re going the healthy way:

You don’t have to go on a diet to lose weight, as long as you adopt a few simple dining habits, like:

  • Have leafy greens with two meals per day.
  • Eat fruit with breakfast.
  • Load up on healthy beverages like water and green tea.
  • Eat plenty of water-heavy foods like cucumbers, romaine lettuce, and berries.
  • Try one new fruit or vegetable every week.
