The Project Connect Steering Committee is calling on community members to step up as volunteers for Project Connect 2025, taking place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center, Fonner Park, 700 E Stolley Park Road, Grand Island, NE 68801.

Project Connect is a one-day event offering a wide range of free services, including medical and dental care, housing support, legal assistance, veteran services, haircuts, vision and foot care, health screenings, and more. These services are available to adults experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, or those in need of essential same-day services. Free transportation will be provided from the Salvation Army, Centennial Towers, and the Grand Island VA Medical Center.

Volunteers Needed — Especially Bilingual Navigators

Volunteers play a critical role at Project Connect, helping guests move through the event and connect with the services they need. Bilingual volunteers are especially valuable to ensure language is never a barrier.

“Last year was the first time in five years that I stepped away from my usual marketing role to volunteer as a navigator,” said Jennifer Figueroa, Marketing Coordinator at Hope Harbor. “It goes to show just how in-demand these services are and the importance of volunteers, especially bilingual navigators, to make sure everyone gets connected to what they need.”

“It’s a day of services for those experiencing homelessness or near homelessness, where they can access multiple supports in one place,” said Molly Clark, Chairperson of Project Connect. “From housing specialists to medical and dental care, vision screenings, legal aid, and more, providers from across Grand Island and Hall County come together to meet critical needs.”
