PLEASANTON — The Pleasanton Public Schools district reminded residents of changes due to the ongoing construction project.
Pleasanton Public Schools recently broke ground on the renovation and new addition project that was approved by the voters through a bond election this year.
The project addresses space concerns that the board has been discussing since January 2022. Expanded classrooms will allow for two separate tracks of math, science, English, social studies at the high school level and at the elementary level for two unit and specialist classes.
The district noted two key dates upcoming. The first is Monday, Oct. 6 which will see tree removal and parking lot construction along the east property line by the Catholic Church.
The second is Monday, Oct. 13 when construction will begin on the new south classroom area by the basketball courts.
There will be changes to parking during the construction process. The east parking lot will be closed for the tree removal and parking lot construction. This will impact parking for activities.
Students will be instructed to park on the north side of the school during school days and the community will also use the north side of the school for parking during activities.
Overflow parking will be at the Catholic Church for students and the community.
The district will share parking maps and updates and fencing and work zones are finalized.
The playground area will be close for construction and safety starting on Oct. 13. The district noted the playground will be closed for the duration of the project and will not be available during activities.
The district said the plan is to reopen the playground as soon as possible, but it will likely remain closed until after Christmas.
The fire evacuation area will be relocated to the west side of the school during the first phase of construction. This information will be reviewed with the staff and the district safety committee then presented to the students.
“We know this is an inconvenience, and we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we improve our facilities for students and staff,” the district said, “If you see any issues we might have overlooked, please reach out to the Superintendent’s Office or your building principal.”
