HASTINGS — A familiar face is now leading the City of Hastings’ Development Services Department. Kevin Kubo started June 16 as the City’s Development Services Director.
Kubo previously served as Chief Building Official for the City of Hastings from Nov. 21, 2021 to November 21, 2024; and then as Chief Building Inspector for the City of Fremont before returning to the City of Hastings.
Kubo also previously worked for the cities of Alliance as well as Sidney.
Kubo grew up in Chadron and graduated from Chadron State College with a major in accounting and a minor in economics.
The Development Services Director position had been vacant since May 2 when Chad Bunger resigned to work in the private sector.
Kubo was interviewed by City Administrator Mark Funkey, Engineering Director Lee Vrooman and Hastings Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Shannon Landauer.
“We are excited to have Kevin back in Hastings,” Funkey said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his many years of experience in the industry and his previous time in Hastings. Kevin will continue to help development in the City move forward.”
