ATKINSON — The Team Jack Foundation is thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual Team Jack Golf Classic, presented by Omaha Steaks, is set for July 8 in Lincoln. The tournament is formatted as a four-person scramble, and hosted by former Nebraska Football players: Rex Burkhead, Brent Qvale, Jeremiah Sirles, and Kenny Bell.
“Organizing and hosting the annual Team Jack Golf Classic is a great way to raise much-needed funds for childhood brain cancer research. My fellow teammates and I have supported the cause since our playing days at Nebraska, and our conviction only grows stronger as time goes on,” said former Nebraska and NFL running back, Rex Burkhead.
The event will be held at Wilderness Ridge Country Club on Monday, July 8, beginning with a 9:30 AM shotgun start. Select sponsorship levels provide teams the opportunity to golf with a former Nebraska Football player to make a team of five. In addition to Burkhead, Qvale, Sirles, and Bell, some of the other former players scheduled to be at the event are Nate Gerry, Jay Foreman, Brett Maher, Cam Jurgens, Andy Janovich, Brandon Reilly, Nate Swift, and Jared Crick. More former players are being added each week! Just prior to the start of the tournament, former Nebraska players will participate in a longest drive competition, and the day will conclude with a dinner and awards ceremony.
“The annual Team Jack Golf Classic promises not only a day of fun on the course but also a chance to make a meaningful impact on pediatric brain cancer. I am honored to be involved in this event, from the initial planning stages to playing on the day of. We are grateful for the support of our current sponsors and look forward to continuing to grow and raise even more funds each year. About Team Jack Foundation
The Team Jack Foundation’s mission is to raise research funds and awareness for childhood brain cancer. The disease affects nearly 5,000 children each year and is the leading cancer cause of death in children. Each year less than four percent of U.S. federal funding is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research, with even less spent on child brain cancer research.
The Team Jack Foundation has raised over $13 million for research and has invested in seventeen projects nationally. One area of focus for the Foundation is the development of a childhood brain tumor program in Omaha, Nebraska. Team Jack has committed $6.5 million toward the program at UNMC and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. The Foundation will continue working with world-renowned researchers, directly, to develop relevant and impactful research initiatives. https://teamjackfoundation.org/
