The fur babies fill my heart with joy!

By Renae Swanson May 2, 2024 | 3:34 PM

This month was the start of my journey with loss.  A year ago my spoiled fat brat cat, Fuzzy was becoming so thin.  We took him to Dr. Jay and found out he had advanced liver disease, and wouldn’t live long.  He was suffering.  Talk about a punch to the gut! Making that phone call to set up the appointment to put him to sleep.  It was the most agonizing call and taking him in took every ounce of my being to hold him in my arms, wrapped in a towel.  My daughter, Angela, she’s the one who found this poor sick kitten who had been abandoned, when she was just ten years old.  Long story short, Fuzzy survived and owned us for the rest of his days.  On May 24th, 2023, around 5pm, I sang, “You are my sunshine” to him through crying gasps.  Angie was with me and we both loved on old Fuzzer’s as he was sedated and then given the final dose that would take him across the rainbow bridge to Heaven.  I told him, “It’s ok, Fuzz, we’ll see you on the other side.  No more pain.  No more pain.”

Then, he was gone. On his 13th birthday.

Jump to today, my heart is mending with help of two new purr babies that my daughter and her boyfriend brought into the home.  MJ is a black and white short hair and such a doll.  She’s the talker, if you know what I mean.  She also is a lot more cautious than her adopted sister, Shorsey.  Both have been fixed by our beloved Dr. Jay and are living the life of luxury, as all fur babies should.  I am so grateful every day to come home to the soft loves these two have brought back into our lives.  As a “Cat Grandma” I have been lifted out of sorrow, but still missing that old brat cat.  His memories still flood my Facebook, but now he’s comforting us from above.

Here’s MJ and Shorsey.  The one with the BIG fluffy tail is Shorsey, the Diva and MJ is the athletic reserved big sis.  Life is good.
