GRAND ISLAND — Two men were arrested in Grand Island after police say they used their vehicles to pin another vehicle in and threatened to set it on fire and burn it down while a man and his son were inside during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 3.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of 6th and Wheeler St. in reference to a suspicious call for service.

A 44-year-old male would report that several male subjects parked their vehicle close enough to the van he and his son were sleeping in and they couldn’t get out.

The 44-year-old asked the other males to leave them alone and move. The males outside then started beating on the side of the van and allegedly saying they were going to set it on fire and burn it down.

The males then got on the back bumper and hood of the van and began messing with two gas cans that were strapped to the roof.

The 44-year-old told police said he feared for his life and his sons.

Officers arrived on scene and two males were located with a pickup blocking the doors of the van. They were identified as Joshua Taylor and Jason Heuson.

Officers said alcoholic containers with drinkable amounts in them were found in the pickup.

Taylor was determined to be the owner of the vehicle and police say he was not compliant and refused a field sobriety test, preliminary breath test and a chemical test.

Taylor was arrested for terroristic threats, driving under the influence – alcohol, .15 or refusal, refuse to submit to test and possession of an open alcohol container.

Heuson was arrested for terroristic threats.
