I didn’t realize what a monster musician/performer Prince was until the late 2000s. I basically ignored him in the 1980s and 1990s. One day I heard ‘When Doves Cry’ with fresh ears and it completely blew me away with it’s layering and building of intensity. To say he was great is an understatement. I wish I saw him in his prime. At least we have audio/visual recordings of his greatness.
