Apr 21, 2021 | 9:40 PM

Three Huskers have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Team. Lauren Stivrins earned first-team honors. Stivrins is a three-time AVCA All-American, and is a first-team honoree for the second time in her Husker career. She the first Husker to earn three AVCA All-America selections since Kadie Rolfzen (2013-16) and the first NU middle blocker to do so since Melissa Elmer (2003-05). Nicklin Hames earned second-team honors, Lexi Sun was named to the third-team. Madi Kubik received honorable mention. The Huskers’ three AVCA All-America selections improved their total to 95 all-time, which leads the nation. The Nebraska volleyball program has had multiple All-Americans six years in a row.

The Nebraska football team held a scrimmage inside Memorial Stadium Wednesday morning. Coaches Greg Austin, Sean Beckton and several players met with the media after the workout. Beckton said the defense delivered a “wake-up call” to the offense early in the scrimmage. Beckton did say highly touted freshman tight end Thomas Fidone was among Wednesday’s top offensive performers. Austin had high praise for walk-on freshman running back Jaquez Yant. You can find links to those interviews at HUSKERMAX.com. The Huskers will hold their 12th practice of the spring tomorrow morning. The Spring Game is Saturday, May 1st, kickoff will be at 1:00.

Mobile tickets for the Spring Game are still available at Huskers.com/tickets. Capacity at Memorial Stadium is capped at 50 percent and ticket sales were approaching 30,000 as of yesterday morning. Fans can now purchase up to 10 tickets, an increase from the earlier limit of four. Tickets are $10 each. Husker fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance of game day. If tickets are still available on game day, prices will increase to $15 in the main seating bowl and $25 for club seats. Fans are reminded they are required to wear a face covering in Memorial Stadium. Regular stadium policies will be in place, including Nebraska’s Clear Bag Policy.
