By News Apr 15, 2020 | 1:05 PM

2001 Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch was announced as the sixth and final member of the University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2020. Crouch was a two-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year (1999 and 2001) and was selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in March. Crouch was just the third player in NCAA history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards. Including bowl games, Crouch accounted for 97 touchdowns in his career, 34 through the air, 61 rushing scores and caught a pair of touchdown passes. He ended his career with the most rushing touchdowns and most 100-yard rushing games by any quarterback in NCAA history. In addition to his NCAA records, Crouch held 32 Nebraska records at the conclusion of his career. The only quarterback in Husker history to rush for 3,000 yards, Crouch still owns Nebraska all-time records for rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns. The six members of the 2020 Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame class will be permanently enshrined at the University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame Plaza.

The Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game on June 6th in Kearney has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter sent to players Wednesday, Shrine Bowl officials said the deadline for the game being played is July 31st. Players’ families are being surveyed as to whether July 11th or 18th would be a preferred date. The Shrine Bowl has been played annually since 1959.

Duncan Field in Hastings will host the American Legion Mid-South Baseball Regional next year. The facility was scheduled to host the event for a second straight season this summer, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced national Legion officials to cancel the 2020 Legion World Series and regional tournaments.
