Journey can’t seem to avoid controversy…whether it’s in-fighting over whether they should visit the president, or two members trying to take over the band’s name…but this one is a doozy!
Journey lead singer controversy is over the Philippine-born Arnel Pineda’s support of a statement by the country’s president…he ordered those who violate the country’s coronavirus quarantine rules to be “shot dead” by security forces…to “shoot dead” anyone causing “trouble” in lockdown areas.
Asked about it on social media, lead singer of Journey expressed support for what the president said and felt Philippine President’s words had been taken out of context. He explained the president “wasn’t provoking dictatorship,” but was concerned “for the safety of the soldiers and police who are keeping the peace and order.”
When another fan suggested that killing people is not a solution at a time that we’re all trying to protect people from dying, Pineda said he didn’t want to argue. He said he’s neither for nor against the Philippine government and is only interested in the safety of the Filipino people.
