The North Brothers and Their Pawnee Scouts Program from 7pm 8:30 pm at Edith Abbott Memorial Library Meeting Room ABC.  Free and open to the public, join noted Pawnee scholar, Dr. Jean Lukesh as she presents her program: “The North Brothers and Their Pawnee Scouts”.  This illustrated program will give some history of the Pawnee, the North Brothers, from Columbus, Nebraska, their officers including two men who had ties to Grand Island/Hall County, the actual Pawnee scouts (including the controversy regarding the first Native American Medal of Honor winner, a Pawnee Scout from Nebraska), some of the Hall County Indian War incidents and sites, and a follow-up of what happened to some of the individuals involved.

Welcome to Grand Island

YWCA “Welcome to G.I.” Coffees are held on the second Saturday of each month; 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the YWCA at 211 E. Fonner Park Road in Grand Island.  Any Person new to the Grand Island area or any residents of Grand Island wanting to know more about our community are welcome to attend any of the coffee.  The topic on September 11th is Volunteer Opportunities.
